Privacy Policy
Effective October 3, 2026
This policy explains how Dr. Octopus handles information when you use our website or Android app. The Android app displays the live website, so the same account and marketplace data is used in both.
Information we collect
Depending on how you use Dr. Octopus, we collect account details such as your name, email, phone number and login information; business profile and verification details; service locations; project requests, budgets, timelines, files, photos and videos; quotations, messages, reviews, discounts and support requests. We also receive technical data needed to operate and secure the service, such as device and browser information, IP address, activity and session data.
If you choose a map location or grant location permission, we use the location information to help set your service area or project location. You can decline device location permission and choose a point on the map manually.
How we use information
We use information to create and maintain accounts, display business profiles, match customer requests with eligible businesses, enable quotations and messages, provide support, improve the service, detect fraud or abuse, secure the platform and comply with applicable requirements. We use session cookies to keep accounts signed in. Analytics may run when configured on the website.
Who can see information
Business profile details you choose to publish may be visible to visitors and marketplace users. When a customer posts a request, relevant project information can be shared with eligible businesses so they can evaluate it and respond. The same request may be available to several eligible businesses. We also use service providers to operate hosting, email, maps, analytics and sign-in features. Maps may load tiles from OpenStreetMap; Google services are used if you choose Google sign-in or when site analytics is enabled. We may disclose information when required by law or to protect the platform and its users.
Do not put passwords, banking credentials, government identification numbers or other unnecessary sensitive details in public profiles or project requests.
Storage, security and retention
We use HTTPS and access controls to protect information. We keep data while it is needed to operate your account and marketplace activity, and for legitimate security or legal needs. Retention may differ by record type. If specific information must be retained after an account deletion request, we will explain the reason during processing.
Your choices and account deletion
You can update account and business profile details through your account or contact us for help. You can change location permissions in your device or browser settings. To request deletion of your account and associated data, use our account deletion page from the app or any browser. We verify account ownership before processing a request. You can also contact us about access, correction or privacy questions.
More detail and contact
Our Personal User Registration Terms & Privacy Agreement and Business Registration Terms & Privacy Agreement explain marketplace-specific information practices.
